Emmanuel Candia

In November 2023  I took part in the Global Children’s Forum Africa conference 2023, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia representing the Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children (NRCC). I brought to the table conversation on children with disabilities and their inclusion in the contexts of their communities. My participation brings NRCC to a great space, working, networking, influencing and building collaborations across the globe on a wide range of issues such as child protection, children at risk, holistic child development programming, partnerships etc. of great importance for NRCC. We are focused on being intentional, open to new and dynamic relationships for NRCC. NRCC has over the past ten (10) months offered specialized consultation and surgery, admission of children for pre and post surgical care, provision of assistive devices, physio and occupational therapy, psycho-social support, outreaches and follow ups, parent support groups, nutritional support among others to over 1200 children with disabilities. We are also working on local partnerships, planning and strategizing to improve and expand our reach as we serve the children and their families.
