About Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children (NRCC)

Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children (NRCC) is a dedicated non-governmental, not-for-profit organization with a profound mission to make a positive impact on the lives of Ugandan children with disabilities. Founded in 1995 by the compassionate German Missionary, M. Burckhardt Schweineberger, NRCC was born out of a deep concern for the well-being of disabled children, especially those in underserved rural areas who had been left behind by society. In response to this pressing need, NRCC was established in Namutamba.

Today, Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre is proud to be in partnership with Neukirchener Mission and the Church of Uganda, receiving invaluable support to carry out its vital work. We are committed to contributing to the enhancement of the living standards of people with disabilities in Uganda, with a strong focus on the prevention and rehabilitation of childhood disabilities. Our particular emphasis lies in promoting the welfare of children and youth aged 0-17 with disabilities.

At NRCC, we hold dear the values of caring attitude, compassion, and integrity, which are woven into the fabric of our services through our dedicated and ethical staff.

Our Objectives

  • To provide medical and physical rehabilitation services to children with physical disabilities and special needs in Uganda and beyond.
  • To create a conducive environment for psycho-social services and support to children with disabilities and other special needs. The same services shall be extended to their parents, guardians and caregivers where need may arise.
  • To raise a God fearing generation out of children with disabilities who receive services from Namutamba Rehabilitation Centre for Children, through different spiritual nourishment programs and activities.
  • To train and equip parents and other care givers of children with disabilities with skills on how to manage, relate and handle children with disabilities and other special needs; and to raise them as responsible men and women like any other citizens of Uganda.
  • To innovatively create and produce tailor made tools and equipment to support children with physical disabilities and other special needs for their easy movement and general comfort.
  • To establish a society in which children with physical disabilities and other special needs are equipped with productive knowledge, skills, values and promotion of positive attitudes to fight and overcome suffering occasioned by ignorance, social development and disease thus improving their quality of life.
